Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC)

Moving an individual out of poverty in a sustainable way can best be done through a combination of hard skills training and support programs and services. To that end, JARC offers a variety of general educational programs to area workers and residents.

Our Adult Learners Program Services (ALPS) gives the gift of reading to residents and workers through volunteer one-on-one tutoring. ALPS also offers pre-GED classes, introduction to computers and word processing classes, special subject seminars, and a writers group open to all skill levels with opportunities for publishing.

Other academic services include GED Preparation in Spanish.

We also provide free computer classes in our Community Technology Center that help equip individuals with computer skills that are necessary for success in the modern workplace.

Our Financial Education program offers financial planning and money management skills training to workers in partnership with their employers, as well as to community members and participants in JARC's other training programs.

Through our Income Supports services, community members have access to free screenings for public benefits eligibility and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) acceptance.

Additionally, participants and graduates of our training programs have access to our Employment Services, which include workplace readiness training, resume building and cover letter writing, and job search technique education.
