Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) is excited to announce the purchase of the 4015 Carroll Avenue property in West Garfield Park. The vacated two-story 22,000 square foot manufacturing building and two vacant lots are located just north of the Lake Street Industrial Corridor at Pulaski Avenue.
The Jane Addams West Carroll L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of JADDC, was created to own and operate the new facility. New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) funds were used to finance the project. NMTC, part of the Community Renewal Tax Relief Act of 2000, was created to address the lack of capital available to business and economic development ventures in low-income communities.
This development presents an exciting new direction for JARC. It allows for the creation of a redevelopment project that will bring new businesses and employment to the west side of Chicago, where economic development is in great need. It presents an opportunity to work collaboratively with another established community development agency, Bethel New Life, and provides JARC with the potential of expanding its worker training and business assistance programs in the near future.
S.I. Industries, a 35-year-old apparel pattern firm relocating from the Ravenswood area, occupies 7,500 square feet on the 1st floor. OAI Inc., a non-profit training agency, leases 3,000 square feet of the 2nd floor space. Spaces from 800 - 3,000 square feet are currently available.
