The Raven, a 32,000 square foot brick and concrete structure, was built in the late 1940's and early 1950's by Glynn Johnson & Company - a manufacturer of high-end commercial and residential specialty hardware. In 1990, Glynn Johnson was bought out by Von Duprin, Inc., and the company relocated to Indiana leaving the property vacant and displacing over 80 workers.
The Jane Addams Development Corporation (JADC) bought and redeveloped the property in 1991. Today, The Raven houses several manufacturing companies, a full service mail house, and the offices of JARC.
